Gilroy Featured in National Magazine
Gilroy – “Garlic and More … in the Gilroy Area,” is the title of a feature story in the summer, 2007 edition of “RV Journal” currently available at Camping World in San Martin and other RV establishments throughout the western United States. The story is a result of the Bay Area Travel Writers’ Press Trip to Gilroy and Morgan Hill last fall. The two page story details the visit of writers Janet and Stuart Wilson to South County, and describes everything from the Garlic Festival, Andy’s Orchard, LJB Farms, Guglielmo Winery, Gilroy Gardens and many other highlights of their trip to the area.
The press trip hosted by the Gilroy Visitors Bureau and Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce was one of several regional marketing activities conducted through the “Gateway to the Central Coast” marketing campaign in 2006. Plans for a second year of regional marketing to promote South County as a leisure destination for travelers are underway.
“Articles such as this one are exactly what we were looking for in our regional marketing efforts,” said Jane Howard, executive director of the Gilroy Visitors Bureau.
