Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors, I would like to thank all the Garlic Festival volunteers.
Thanks to their volunteerism the GHCC was able to raise $16,170 dollars which placed us in first place.
I especially would like to thank Martha Martinez, who acted as our volunteer coordinator, for her hard work and endless hours of dedication, and making sure this year’s sign-ups were a success.
For the past 25 years, the Gilroy Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been able to generate funds and support our local community e.g. Scholarships, Arts & Cultural Center, Leadership Gilroy, Safe Night and other nonprofit organizations.
This year the hospitality area was named “Louie’s Kitchen” in honor of the late Louie Sandoval who was part of our board of directors and the Garlic Festival.
I would like to remember him as well as to thank the Sandoval family for continuing his legacy in volunteering and helping out in the community.
Once again, I would like to thank the volunteers for their sweat and endless hours that were put into making this year’s festival a success. We will see you all in 2006.
Robert Rodriguez, Vice President Hispanic Chamber, Assistant Chair Garlic Festival Hospitality
