victim had tried to assist the store clerk in a confrontation with
the suspect, according to police.

On Nov. 14 at around 1:30 a.m., the victim and witnesses reported to police there had been a disturbance inside the store, at 915 San Benito St., and that the victim went inside to intervene. According to police, the suspect then turned and struck the victim on the side of the head with a bottle.

The man being sought fled the store in a newer-model, white Pontiac. Witnesses said the driver was a female, while the man suspected in the assault is described as a Hispanic male, between 25 and 30 years old, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a heavy build and wearing a white shirt with a red-over-black pattern, according to police.

The victim was found by emergency responders outside the store suffering from a head injury. Firefighters and AMR medics treated him.
