Howard Coles Hand, age 73 resident of Gilroy, CA, was in a fatal car accident on Wednesday June 8, 2011, at 11:30 A.M. in Gardnerville, NV. He was making his way to Lee Vining for his annual camping trip.
Howard is survived by his mother Elinor Chevalier, wife Justine Hand, two sons Mike, Chris and daughter-in-law Brenda, daughter Catherine and son-in-law Adam Grant and their two children Sean and Jenna Grant.
Rosary will be held at 9:40 A.M. and Mass will follow on Wednesday June 15, 2011, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Athanasius Church, 1555 S. White Rd. San Jose, CA. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery 1000 1st Street Gilroy, CA with lunch reception to follow at Mama Mia’s Restaurant, two blocks W. on 1st St. Gilroy.
Howard was proud to have served in the United States Coast Guard.
