James J. Calvino

James J. Calvino, 78, died April 27, in Boulder, Colo.
He was born July 7, 1923 in Whitehall, N.Y. on the South Bay of
Lake Champlain.
James J. Calvino, 78, died April 27, in Boulder, Colo.

He was born July 7, 1923 in Whitehall, N.Y. on the South Bay of Lake Champlain.

In 1939-1940 he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. Co 942 Camp Cascades, stationed in Yosemite Valley. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the Army, a member of the 27th Infantry Division, the first combat ready division to be sent to the Asiatic Pacific. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Battle Stars, The American Campaign Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, The Bronze Star Medal and the Victory Medal.

Upon his return from the Pacific Theatre and the army hospital, he met Ruby Katherine Stansbury and very shortly after they married. They were married for 54 years. Ruby died July 6, 1999.

After his Honorable Discharge in 1945 in Texas, he drove longhaul truck until 1950. In June of 1950 he entered into law enforcement and served in Los Banos, Merced County and Gilroy. He retired as a Sergeant in April 1976.

He is survived by his son Jim, Jr. of Gilroy, daughters Linda Dian Carton of Colorado, Brenda Kalso of Dana Point and Donna Triolo of Auburn, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

At his request no services will be held.
