Jeffrey Jay Brashear

Jeffrey Jay Brashear, 47, passed away on November 29, 2006 in Hollister after complications of a lingering spinal cord injury sustained in 1987 by a hit-and-run accident, leaving him permanently disabled and in intense physical pain. He had lived in Hollister since 1969 and graduated from San Benito High School

His friends admired, in spite of his illness, his pursuit of his passionate trades and hobbies, silver and metal smithing, machine precision and creativity. During his lifetime, he had been an outdoor sport enthusiast, as well as motorcyclist. His prior work had taken him to China and Canada.

His friends both admired, and were amazed, at his capacities in difficult situations and what he could accomplish which could not have been done without the help of his wife, Nannette, who was most instrumental in helping him through difficult times. He is also survived by his daughter, Megan, 7 months, his mother, Kathy Kogle, husband Gene, and preceded in death by his father, Phillilp Brashear. He is also survived by a brother Mark, of Aptos, and sister Michele of N. C., as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from out of the area.

Donations are preferred to Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Spinal Cord Injury Research, through Grunnagle-Ament–Nelson Funeral Home. A memorial serviced was held Dec. 3rd at the First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Pastor D. Rodriguez.

The family would like to thank the Presbyterian Church, friends, visiting nurses & the community for their many gifts of love, flowers, cards, and support in our time of sorrow
