Hector Salgado scored two goals and Christian Sanchez had the other as the GHS boys JV soccer team defeated Palma 3-1 last Friday. Joseph Souza assisted Sanchez.
The Mustangs had no trouble in a 3-0 beating of North Salinas on Wednesday at Garcia- Elder Complex. Marcial Gonzalez’s two goals, each on assists by Hector Salgado, and Christian Sanchez’s goal, wrapped up the game’s scoring in the first half.
Freshman Kasandra Kachakji had plenty to smile about after the girls’ soccer game at North Salinas on Tuesday. She contributed both goals as the Mustangs beat the Vikings, 2-0.
Only two wrestlers on the Gilroy junior varsity squad got an opportunity to wrestle Wednesday night against Alvarez’s undermanned team. Adam Rosso and Nick Ahmadkhani both got wins – Rosso by pinning his opponent in the third period, and Ahmadkhani winning by technical fall, 16-0.
The wrestlers participated in the Wildcats’ tournament in Los Gatos on Saturday. All six of the Mustangs’ wrestlers placed. Both Luis Barragan and Nick Ahmadkhani took first place. Jesse Hernandez finished third, Freddy Barrios and Adam Rosso took fifth, and Junior Espinoza was sixth.
