Gilroy – Kay’s Kids grabbed a share of first place in the second-half Women’s D League pennant chase Wednesday with an 11-3 victory over the Energizers at Las Animas Park.

Vanessa Pena clubbed a two-run home run in the first inning and Lorraine Marquez roped a two-run single in a seven-run second as Kay’s Kids joined Toby’s Girls at 2-1. Kiely Sheppard and Kat Corrales each collected three hits for the winners, Lauren Capp a double and two singles for the Energizers.

Toby’s Girls dropped a 15-1 decision to Farmers Insurance. Jessica Gomez went 4-for-4 and Suzanne Fox added three singles to the Farmers offense.

Laurie Miller went 2-for-2 and scored the Toby’s Girl run.

Dutchman’s Pizza outlasted Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 18-3 to leave both clubs at 2-1 in Women’s C action at Christmas Hill Park.

Eva Neibel laced a triple, double and two singles for the Pizza offense.

Liz Martinez went 3-for-3 and scored three Dutchman’s runs.

Lydia Cano went 3-for-3 and scored twice for Pacific Coast, while daughter Vicki Velasquez went 3-for-3 and Angelica Garcia drove in two runs.

Image and Design-Guy’s Heating & Air Conditioning defeated M&Ms to improve to 2-1. Linda Figone singled and doubled for the winners. Debbie Grove went 3-for-3 for M&Ms.

Handmade Healthcare handed Goldsmith Seeds its first loss of the second half of Women’s B play Wednesday, a 19-4 setback at Las Animas.

D. J. Simpson and Jessica Loza each powered four hits to ignite the Handmade (2-1) offense. Jessica Simpson went 3-for-3 and Antoinette Bowe singled and tripled for 2-1 Goldsmith.

Williams Dental Lab scored 11 runs in the first inning and held on to defeat Don’s Vending 16-11.

Cherie Somavia lined a triple and two singles for 2-1 Williams. Liz Talavera went 4-for-4 and Kathy Van Hoy went 3-for-3 and scored three Don’s Vending runs.
