Garcia has pair of two-run hits in 14-13 win over Desperados
GILROY – Krazy Koyote slipped into first place in the Men’s CCC League second half Monday with a 14-13 edging of the Desperados at Las Animas Park.
The win left Krazy Koyote at 5-1, while Campbell’s Towing and Countryside Daycare Center share second at 4-1. Campbell’s plays Countryside at 8:50 p.m. on Monday Aug. 2 at Las Animas, with the winner playing Krazy for the second-half title.
Carlos Garcia mashed a pair of two-run hits to spark the Koyote attack. Eddie Vargas added a single and triple, scoring three runs. Dennis Barroza, Dean Filice and Jim Stewart each garnered three hits for the Desperados.
Campbell’s fell out of first place with an 11-8 loss to the Extreme Air Poor Boys.
Brad Burrows cracked two home runs, Abie Espinosa one for the Poor Boys. Rayce Zamarippa and Ryan Ham each collected three hits for the Towers.
Countryside stayed in title contention with a 13-9 nod over Morgan Hill Bible Church.
Steve Sorce hit a two-run homer and Brett Scott went 4-for-4 for the Daycare. Stu Kirchick ignited the Bible offense with a three-run homer in the first inning. Jason Lang and Jim Nielsen joined Kirchick with three hits apiece.
Carreiro’s Plastering and the Dirty Dozen will play for the second-half CC title Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Christmas Hill Park after both secured wins Monday at Gavilan Sports Park.
Rodney Clore homered and Billy Carreiro bagged four hits as the 4-1 Plasterers outlasted South County Rockery and Building Materials 19-7. Dave Meacham doubled and triple for the Rockery.
Eric Contreras and Daniel Salinas stroked home runs as 4-1 Dirty Dozen defeated Las Animas Sweepers 20-9. Joel Garcia went 4-for-5 for the Dozen. Gavin Kertsen and Joe Lovecchio each homered for the Sweepers.
Jarred Hernandez and Rick Hattaway each went 4-for-4 and Eddie Gomez scored four runs to highlight a 14-1 Malibu Heating and Air Conditioning win over No Soup 4 You. Kurt Gitmed managed two hits and Randy Newton lined an RBI-single for the Soup.
