Iwanaga, Arribere, Davis score in 3-0 shutout of SJA
SAN JOSE – The Gilroy High girls soccer squad picked up its first win of the season Tuesday with a 3-0 shutout of San Jose Academy.

The Lady Mustangs (1-2 in non-league) received goals from freshman Jackie Iwanaga, senior Jackie Arribere and Alicia Davis.

Iwanaga put the Lady Mustangs up early after scoring an unassisted goal. After the San Jose goalkeeper offered a rebound in front, Iwanaga was there to touch it in for Gilroy’s first goal.

Arribere netted her second straight goal – scoring in last Friday’s 3-1 loss to Woodside – to give the Lady Mustangs a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Davis sealed things with a second-half strike.

Freshman fullback Heather Link was named player of the game for Gilroy.

Up next, Gilroy will travel to Watsonville today at 3:30 p.m. before returning home for a Friday contest against Monterey at 5:30 p.m. inside Mustang Stadium
