Dear Editor,
Once again, in his typical inept and ill-informed manner, Marc Perkel has bombarded his keyboard without rubbing two brain cells together. Did he read the Constitution? Obviously not!
The president is never mentioned in the 14th amendment, and congress is briefly mentioned ONCE; ” The congress shall have the power to enforce …”
The president does not have the power to raise the debt limit Marc. He can either approve or disapprove the bills presented him with his veto pen. Bills regarding taxation and spending, by law (Constitution), are to originate in The House of Representatives.
As for your national emergency statement you have to ask yourself, “Did the nation fall apart over the long 4th of July Holiday observance?” Does the nation go into a tailspin during the extended Christmas holiday season? Do all of the regular monthly checks go out during these periods of celebration?
Go outside once a day Marc and you will discover The Sky Is Not Falling. While outside you might attempt reading the Constitution in the daylight: IT MIGHT ENLIGHTEN you!
