In a front-page article in The Dispatch’s July 8 edition headlined “Fired-up neighbors face an uphill fight”, resident Tom Espersen is referenced saying that “the Filice family owned 25 percent of the land in Gilroy.”
That raises for me an interesting question: just who are the “mover-and-shaker” families in Gilroy today? Who are the families that own the most land or the most businesses, and therefore have potential for the most political and community influence upon Gilroy politicians and politics?
Maybe The Dispatch should consider writing a series of articles about these families. I think a lot of us average Gilroy residents would find this very interesting.
