Annual toys for tots drive kicks off
Gilroy – The Gilroy Elks RV Group, The Garlic Roamers, are having their annual toy drive. Citizens of Gilroy and Morgan Hill are encouraged to contribute an unwrapped toy. Please drop off all unwrapped toys at the Elks Lodge no later than Dec. 7.

Adopt an animal companion
Gilroy – The Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter (FOSMAS) have many homeless companion animals currently at the shelter and in foster homes who are looking for a family for the holidays.
Come to the FOSMAS pet fairs noon to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday, at Petco-Morgan Hill (corner of Tennant and Monterey) and Petco-Gilroy (San Ysidro Avenue north of the Outlets).
Stop by to find a new furry friend, make a donation, find out how to become a foster parent or sign-up to volunteer.

Family Fun Day at Rebekah’s
Gilroy – The annual Family Fun Day is 11am to 3pm, Saturday Nov. 18 at the Elks Lodge to raise money for Rebekah’s Children’s Services. Families will receive one ready to stuff Noah’s Ark animal of their choice for $20. All proceeds support RCS Prevention and Education Programs serving 11 Gilroy Schools.
Help support a fallen rider
Gilroy – Mario Bonfante, a Gilroy native, had his promising AFM/AMA Road Racing career cut short by a tragic bicycle accident, which broke his neck and left him paralyzed. Mario and his family are now faced with the challenges ahead. You Can Help.
Mario is an active member of a youth Bible study. Members of his group came up with the idea to have a raffle to raise the funds needed to care for him through rehabilitation.
There will be five prizes announced at the raffle drawing Feb. 12: First prize is $1000, second prize is $750, Third is $500, Fourth is $250 and fifth is $100. Raffle tickets are available for $10 each at High Gear Powersports, 7661 Monterey St.

Don’t get your haircut
Gilroy – Well, at least wait to get your haircut.
A cut-a-thon will be held Sunday to raise money for the family of Julio Gonzales who died Oct. 17.
The Hot Spot Salon located at 8025 Kern in Gilroy will host the event from 11am to 4pm.
Gavilan College Cosmetology students will offer a luxurious shampoo service before all haircuts and face painting for children. Raffle tickets are being sold for prizes donated by local businesses that include: tanning, dinners for two, salon services and gift baskets.

Playhouse presents ‘Treasure Island’
