Lucy C. (Lucia) Sanchez

On November 11, 2010, at age 86, Lucy C. [Lucia] Sanchez died in her sleep at her lifelong home at Rancho don Julian in Hollister, CA.

She was blessed to be cared for by her devoted sisters with loving service to the peaceful end of her life. Lucy was the eldest daughter of 11 children and is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Julian and Anastasia Sanchez, her brothers, Peter, Marion, and Joseph Sanchez, her sister, Nita Romero, and her sisters in law, Carmen and Jane Sanchez.

She is survived by her brothers, Sig Sanchez of Gilroy, and Tom Sanchez [Liz] of Rio Vista, her sisters, Mary Rowe, Penny Armijo [David], and Annie Del Carlo, all of Hollister and Judy Maddux [Wil] of Yorba Linda, her brother in law, Frank Romero of Brentwood, and her sister in law, Maryanne Sanchez of Los Banos.

Her devotion to her family will serve as a legacy of love of family, and as an example to her 112 nieces and nephews. After owning a grocery store in Hayward, Lucy worked for almost two decades at Nob Hill and was a member of Sociedade Espanola de San Benito and Y.L.I. El Gabilan Institute. Visitation will commence on Tuesday, November 16th,2010, at 3:00 P.M. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito Street, Hollister with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 17th, 2010, at Sacred Heart Church, 5th & College Streets, Hollister.

Entombment will follow at the Sanchez Family Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VNA/Hospice; Hope for a Cure Foundation in memory of Juli-Ann Rowe O’Connor; or a charity of your choice in care of the mortuary chapel.
