A security guard at a north Morgan Hill bar was arrested after he pepper sprayed and electrically shocked a customer who refused to leave, police said.

Morgan Hill officers responded to the area near La Officina bar, 19090 Monterey Road in north Morgan Hill, about 12:39 a.m. Sunday, where they found a male victim outside who was crying and covering his eyes, Sgt. Jerry Neumayer said.

The man, who was seen by police near Monterey Road and Peebles Avenue, told police he was a patron at the bar and the security guard at the front door had pepper-sprayed him and tased him with an electric stun-gun during an altercation inside.

Police determined the altercation started when the patron refused to leave the bar at the request of the security guard, Neumayer said.

Arrested was the security guard, Jose Fuentes, 39 of Morgan Hill, on suspicion of illegal use of pepper-spray, failure to wear a clearly marked security uniform, and assault with an electrical stun-gun, Neumayer said.

“He never called police about this person that was kicked out of the bar,” Neumayer added.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics, police said.
