The incident was reported to police by area residents who heard the shots, police said. The victim fled the area and police found him soon after at a nearby but unspecified residence. The victim was then transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police do not have any further description of the suspect, police said. Police also have not located the firearm used in the shooting.
Police did not specify why they thought the shooting might be gang-related, but are investigating it as such, police said.
There was a spate of gang-related violence in Morgan Hill Friday night that resulted in a man known as “Green Eyes” being shot and killed from point-blank range in the upper torso and head, Morgan Hill police and witnesses said. In the escalating attacks that led up to the slaying, gang members stabbed Gilroyan Jerry Devito, 31, multiple times between StriXe Lounge and the Safeway store in Tennant Station.
