A Gilroy man was booked today into the county jail for stabbing another man in unincorporated Gilroy.

Esequiel Martinez, 33, staggered into the Saint Louise Regional Hospital emergency room on March 18 near midnight with several stab wounds and was “in dire need of medical attention,” Sgt. Don Morrissey said. He was transported by Life Flight to Regional Medical Center in San Jose for treatment.

Martinez said he was attacked by an unknown male at a residence on the 11000 block of Kannely Lane in unincorporated Gilroy. The suspect approached Martinez on foot, stabbed him several times with an unknown instrument and fled the scene.

After Sheriff’s detectives interviewed several witnesses, they identified the suspect as Martin Francisco Aldama, 21, of Gilroy. He was arrested today at 11:45 a.m. at a residence on the 10000 block of Center Avenue. He was taken into custody and booked into the county jail in San Jose for assault with a deadly weapon.
