Marshall (Marcello) Bert Bernal was born Jan. 16, 1903 to Louis Bernal and Rufina Velasco Bernal at Hall’s Valley. He was born at the Rancho Canada de Pala. This is now the Grant Ranch County Park. His family moved to San Jose shortly thereafter.
Mr. Bernal was a retired rancher having lived over 50 years in Morgan Hill. He had also worked about 30 years for the Pacific Manufacturing Company in Santa Clara and for ten years for Stokley Van Camp in Santa Clara.
Mr. Bernal was married in 1936 and is survived by his wife Mary, his two sons Micheal and Mark and their wives Brenda and Nancy and his grandsons, Marshall and Martin and his granddaughter Angella.
A memorial service will be held “when the ground is dry and the sun is warm.”
