Gilroy 8, Wilcox 2

The Lady Mustangs came out swinging against Wilcox with a total of eight runs off 11 hits against the Chargers. Liz Ines continued on her hitting tear with two hits, one RBI and two runs. Lauryn Chris, Patty Olvera and Sarah Villar also contributed with two hits apiece. The Mustang defense and pitching held the Lady Chargers to three hits and a single run.

St. Francis 3, Gilroy 0 

In the day’s second game, Gilroy faced a tough St. Francis team which was looking to avenge its loss to the Mustangs the week before. The Lancers took the early lead and never looked back. Junior hurler Patty Olvera took the loss.

Gilroy 4, Soquel 1

The Mustangs finished the day on a winning note, rallying from one run down to beat Soquel. The Knights scored early in the first inning on an error. The Mustangs manufactured three runs on nine hits to finish off the Knights in seven innings.

Bud Ogden Instructional Basketball League

Gilroy High boys basketball coach Bud Ogden will be holding a six-week instructional basketball league that will stress the fundamentals of basketball. Ogden was a first team All-American at Santa Clara and played in for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, so this is an opportunity to learn basketball from one of the best. Campers will be instructed and supervised by current and former GHS boys and girls basketball players as well as other members of the GHS coaching staff.

Who: Boys and girls of all ages

Where: Gilroy High gymnasium

When: Sundays, April 2-May 14 (no camp Mother’s Day weekend).

Cost: $125 per player

14th Annual St. Mary Alumni Basketball Tournament

St. Mary School invites all players who have attended or graduated from the school to play in the annual alumni tournament.

Where: St. Mary School gym

When: Saturday, March 25

Game Start Times:

Morning Games: 9am

Afternoon games: 12:30pm

Consolation and championship games: 3:30pm

Admission is $2 for adults; $1 for students; children under six are free. A snack bar will be open throughout the day.

Gilroy GC 9-Hole Ladies’ Golf

Gilroy Golf Course is starting a 9-hole ladies’ golf group for Thursday mornings this spring. This group will cater to the recreational golfer and is open to any females looking to get out and enjoy some fresh air and friendship on a weekly basis. We are sorry, pros are not welcome. Target date to start the league is Thursday, April 20.

26th Annual GHS Crab Cioppino Feed and Dance

It’s coming! The Gilroy High Athletic Association is holding its 26th annual Cioppino Feed and Dance to benefit Gilroy High athletics.

When: Saturday, May 13

Dinner: 5:30-8pm

Dance (Shaboom): 8-11pm

Where: Don Christopher Ranch, 305 Bloomfield Rd.

How to get Tickets: Visit Gilroy High between 8am and 4pm (Sorry, no credit cards accepted at the school) or purchase them online with a credit card at www.gilroyhighschool.com. Cost is $50 (Sorry, 21 and over only). Ticket sales limited to 1,200. T-shirts and aprons also for sale, $12 each.
