Gilroy – New Hope Community Church earned the Men’s DD League adult basketball crown Wednesday by outlasting Toto’s Stingers-Gavilan Honda 56-33 in the Championship Series finale at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Vance Lee drained three three-point field goals on the way to a team-high 15 points as New Hope took the Gilroy Community Services Department series 2-1.
Matthew Kelly struck for 10 points to assist the New Hope Community Center cause. Alex Rivas scored 11 points and Andres Espinosa managed 10 for Toto’s-Honda.
New Hope opened the series with a 45-38 decision over Toto’s-Honda on Monday. Sergio Montenegro worked inside for 22 points for the winners, Espinosa 11 and Rivas 10 for the losers.
Toto’s-Gavilan Honda responded with a 52-34 victory on Tuesday, keyed by 14 points from Espinosa. Jimmy Tomasetti dropped in 13 points and Dean Friend popped in 11 for the winners. Chris Soto and Sergio Montenegro each scored 11 points for New Hope.
Eight-Ball Bail Bonds captured the Men’s C title with a 2-1 series nod over Pizza N Stuff.
Eight-Ball opened the Championship Series with a 69-60 win over Pizza N Stuff on Monday. Neil Garrett erupted for 27 points, Mitch Burley 14 for the winners. Mark Cisneros hit four 3-pointers in a 30-point showing for Pizza N Stuff. Santos Benitez followed with 13 markers, Miguel Gilliard 10 for the Pizzamen.
Benitez scored 17 points Tuesday as Pizza N Stuff trimmed Eight-Ball 63-54. Cisneros scored 14 points, Juan Rios 11 for the winners. Garrett tossed in 21 points, Ron Connors 13 and Miguel Rivera 11 for Eight-Ball.
The Bondsmen took the series with a 69-64 victory on Wednesday, led by 30 points from Garrett. Burley contributed 16 points, Connors 11 for the champions. Benitez recorded 17 points, Richard Klauer 15, Cisneros and David Herrera 13 apiece for Pizza N Stuff.
Triple Threat swept past Handmade Healthcare to take the Men’s D League series.
Triple Threat opened the playoffs with a 49-46 edging of Handmade on Monday at Solorsano Gymnasium. Jacob Garcia scored 16 points and Sig Reynisson mustered 10 for the Threat. Brit Bigelow led the Healthcare offense with 17 points.
Triple Threat finished the season with a 58-44 win over Handmade on Tuesday. Garcia topped the Threat attack with 18 points, while Kurt Gitmed and Reynisson each figured for 10. Armando Ocampo popped in 18 points for Handmade.
