Man suspected of soliciting underage sex charged
The arraignment for a southern California man accuse of traveling to Morgan Hill to have arranged sex with minors was continued to Sept. 25, according to authorities.
Boy died in car crash on Hwy. 152 Monday night
A 7-year-old Los Banos boy died in a car crash on eastbound Highway 152, west of Dinosaur Point around 6:50 p.m. on Monday.
Field fire at Frazier Lake Road and Bloomfield Avenue
Crews from the Gilroy and Morgan Hill Fire Departments, South Santa Clara Fire District and Calfire responded to a roughly 40-acre vegetation fire at Frazier Lake Road and Bloomfield Avenue in Gilroy this afternoon. At around 3:30 p.m. firefighters were working on "cutting off the head," or containing the head of the fire, according to an employee from Treehaven station on Hecker Pass Road.
Gang fight at Morgan Hill Bowl
Police are looking for unidentified suspects allegedly involved in a gang-related assault that occurred at 12:33 a.m. this morning at the Morgan Hill Bowl, located at 650 Tennant Station Way, according to a Morgan Hill Police Department press release.
Students appeal Cinco de Mayo ruling
Three Morgan Hill high school students who were ordered to remove their American flag clothing to avoid offending students celebrating their Mexican heritage on Cinco de Mayo (May 5) in 2010 filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit today, according to their attorney William J. Becker, with The Becker Law Firm.
City admin evaluates candidates for new Gilroy police chief
City of Gilroy officials are in the thick of the process to find and hire a new police chief, with Pedro Espinoza set to retire as of May 22.
