Two suspected thieves were seen driving away early this morning, Friday, in a stolen golf cart filled with stolen equipment and other items from the Spirit of Morgan Hill fastpitch softball league’s equipment shed on the San Martin Gwinn Elementary School campus, according to a janitor who witnessed the incident.

The Gilroy Police Department and Morgan Hill SWAT Team mobilized Tuesday morning to serve a high-risk search warrant related to a gang assault near Sixth and Maple streets in Gilroy. The gang assault occurred over the weekend and involved three to four suspects, a couple of whom are still at large, according to GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza.

The Gilroy Police Department made arrests for a variety of crimes the past week, including burglary, vehicle theft, possession of a dirk or dagger and indecent exposure. Arrests were recorded in the GPD blotter—a public document obtained under the California Public Record's Act—between Jan. 6 through 13. All suspects remain innocent until proven guilty, and an appearance in the arrest log does not signify guilt for the listed crime/s.

An elderly couple arrived at their Morgan Hill home just before lunchtime Thursday and opened their garage door to find a strange mini-van in their parking spot with a man they had never seen before inside the vehicle, police said. 

A parolee was arrested Wednesday after trying to pass a fraudulent check at a local bank, police said.
