Murder victim had lengthy rap sheet

A 69-year-old Gilroy man who was murdered Saturday morning in his Leavesley Road home had a lengthy criminal history dating back 30 years in Santa Clara County, including a 2008 police raid that turned up drugs, guns and a wanted parolee, according to court records.

Amber Alert suspect sentenced to one year in jail

The woman who created a statewide Amber Alert last May, with the help of a fugitive accomplice, was sentenced to jail time and probation for her involvement in the accidental kidnapping.

County man suspected of firing shotgun, threatening family

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 55-year-old San Benito County man on New Year’s Eve after he had been suspected of threatening family members with a shotgun and firing one round into the ceiling of the residence, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Missing woman’s body found in San Benito County

The body of a missing 71-year-old woman from Salinas was discovered in San Benito County near Highway 129, according to the Salinas Police Department.

Overturned big-rig backs up traffic on Hwy. 152

A double-bed tractor trailer flipped over on Highway 152/Pacheco Pass near Frazier Lake Drive around 2:40 p.m. today, blocking traffic in both directions and causing drivers to turn around and find an alternate route.
