A Friday morning collision on U.S. 101 in Gilroy claimed the life of a 57-year-old local woman, according to the California Highway Patrol. She has been identified as Christina Cary, of Gilroy, the Santa Clara County Coroner-Medical Examiner said Monday.
Candle causes portion of homeless encampment to burn down
Two City of Gilroy Fire Department engines responded to a fire that was started by a burning candle at approximately 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. The fire occurred inside a homeless encampment along the west side of the railroad tracks behind the Gilroy Dispatch newsroom office, located at 6400 Monterey Road.
