Community helps revamp Gilroy’s ‘operating manual’ for growth

One year ago, 25 members of the General Plan Advisory Committee first gathered for to help revamp the blueprint for Gilroy's future when it comes to development, housing, jobs, transportation and growth in general. The group, known as GPAC, is tasked with revising the city's guiding principles and vision through the creation of a new 20-year General Plan.

Alejo bill to increase state’s minimum wage hits Assembly floor

Assemblyman Luis Alejo, author of a bill hitting the Assembly floor this week proposing to increase the state’s minimum wage, said the legislation would assist lower-income families in keeping up with escalating costs and that it would dissuade municipalities from passing local rates.

LAFCO Sues Gilroy to Stop the Proposed 4,000 Homes

The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) filed suit Wednesday in Santa Clara County Superior Court against the city of Gilroy, saying that the city broke the law when it approved the annexation of 721 acres of farmland as part of a planned 4000-home development. It asks a judge to stop the city from moving forward on the plan.
