Hailey is a Chihuahua who is gentle, sweet and happy. She is also great with other dogs and loves to be held. She is special needs because her back hips are tilted out; however she doesn't notice and still loves to walk. She has been at the San Martin Animal Shelter since June. Prospective candidates: Attend informative session on Saturday
The Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters' Office will host a session for candidates and prospective candidates in the November general election from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 14.
New tourism improvement fund backed by Welcome Center, hotels
The Gilroy Welcome Center and several Gilroy hotels have teamed up to present a tourism improvement district that would heavily market overnight stays in Gilroy. The Center plans to present the proposal to City Council during their regular Monday, July 16 meeting.
$2.4 million grant will benefit Gavilan students
It’s a happy day for local community college students: Gavilan just got a hefty chunk of money from the government that will help streamline the process of getting a four-year degree in nursing, computer science or digital media at California State University, Monterey Bay.

LITTLE LEAGUE: Gilroy 11s Blue claim District 59 title
The Gilroy Little League 11-year-old Blue All-Star baseball squad capped an undefeated run through the District 59 tournament with a 7-3 decision over Milpitas Little League to claim the championship Monday night.
