Keep pets safe on July 4th

Fireworks are fun, unless you’re a dog or cat.  Not all pets are afraid of the whistles, pops and explosions that accompany Fourth of July celebrations, but many are terrified.  To your cat or dog’s super-sensitive ears, the blasts and roars of fireworks can make them feel like they are under attack.  They react by retreating, hiding, and worse: running away.

20-year-old Hollister suspect arrested after assaulting Gavilan student

Officers from the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Department have arrested Sean Chris Woodard, a 20-year-old Hollister resident who allegedly assaulted an 18-year-old female student while she was traversing the main hiking trail Wednesday behind the campus, located at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy. 

Developers sue city of Gilroy for allegedly illegal development fees

Three developers, including the Glen-Loma Corporation, owned by Filice family members who are longtime residents and developers in Gilroy, have sued the City of Gilroy for thousands of dollars in relief for "unjustified and excessive development fees" as well as unspecified attorney fees, according to court documents.

Man, woman flown to hospital after motorcycle collides with deer

A San Jose man and woman were flown to the hospital after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a deer in west Morgan Hill, authorities said.
