More than 1,000 tips; Sierra still missing

Sierra LaMar is still missing, authorities are still searching for her or any evidence that might lead to her, and the county crime lab is still processing what little evidence has been found so far in relation to her disappearance.

A story of resilience at a time of tragedy

Of late, I have been thinking about how vulnerable our students are. At Sobrato this year we have now had two tragic events affect our student population. In the fall, there was the shooting death of Tara Romero, along with the injuries of three other students. And now it is three weeks since the disappearance of Sierra LaMar, who was abducted while walking to the school bus stop the morning of March 16. Of course we are all hoping that she will be safely returned to her family.

Jerry leaves behind wife Julia of 59 years; daughters Patty Galdos (Butch), Dee-Ann Dike (Matt); grandchildren Tom (Jodi), Nathan (Sasha), Courtney Galdos (Phil); great-grandchildren Thomas, Ashley, Markus, Gage, Emily and Kinley Galdos; sister Reba Medeiros, sisters-in-law Helen Smith, Margarita Johnson; brothers-in-law Ernest Alvarado and Wally Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nearly 400 homes without power

A Pacific Gas and Electric project has left nearly 400 homes out of power in the northwest area of Gilroy near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Mantelli Drive Thursday.

Flores: Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt dive into fishing in independent film

Ewan McGregor is often best in the small, understated roles he plays in independent films that don’t reach large audiences. He was great in “Beginners,” a small film about a man who is coping with his father’s coming out as gay late in life followed by his father’s fatal diagnosis with cancer. It’s a sad movie, but McGregor makes it work with his costars Christopher Plummer and Melanie Laurent.

Went to heaven on March 28, 2012. A cherished sister of Filomenia Bryant (George), Claire D’Amelio, Edith D’Amelio, Florindo “JR” D’Amelio (Lyn), and a loving aunt of Ward Bryant, Michele Armeniakos, Jillian and Kevin D’Amelio. She is also survived by her beloved grand nieces and nephews.
