Hundreds volunteer to search for Sierra

Hundreds of people - some estimate as many as 600 - from all over the South Bay and points farther south showed up to volunteer Tuesday morning for the search for Sierra LaMar, 15, who was reported missing from her north Morgan Hill home March 16.

Concern grows as search efforts prove unsuccessful

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office has investigated more than 350 leads and spent the weekend combing vast areas of South County with the help of nearby law enforcement agencies trying to locate 15-year-old Sierra LaMar. But the Morgan Hill teen remains missing after 11 days. 

Funeral scheduled for victims of murder-suicide

A joint funeral will be held for Martha Gutierrez, Abel Gutierrez and Lucero Luna-Gutierrez on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church.

A talk from the heart about second chances

Luis Alejo (D-Salinas) made a special appearance at Central High School Friday to speak to students. With about 100 or so students, Mayor Steve Tate, Morgan Hill Unified School District Superintendent Wes Smith and trustees Claudia Rossi and Ron Woolf, the assembly member spoke about his childhood and how he got to the state capitol. He said he was arrested at 16 while attending Watsonville High School and was put on juvenile probation. After another offense his senior year, the school told him with one more problem, he would be expelled. 

Plea in double murder in alleged drunk car wreck set for Thursday

Stacy Lonnberg, the 51-year-old Gilroy woman who is charged with murder for allegedly driving drunk and causing a Jan. 14 car accident that killed her husband and daughter, is scheduled to enter a plea on Thursday at the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 2 p.m.
