Gilroy's Relay for Life earned at least $106,000 for the

DMB withdraws proposal for 6,800 homes

DMB informed San Benito County officials today the company has officially withdrawn its proposal for the 6,800-unit El Rancho San Benito development northwest of Hollister off Highway 25, a planning official confirmed.

Thomas Alvis (Tom) Martin

Thomas Alvis (Tom) Martin went to be with our Lord on March 6, 2009. He was born April 25, 1915, in Haskell, TX, to the late Oscar C. and Ola Cameron Martin. Tom grew up in Marlow, OK before moving to Morgan Hill, CA, where he established several successful cleaning businesses as well as a working horse and cattle ranch. Later, he retired and he and his wife, Marjorie, moved to Texas. Tom loved and collected Singer Featherweight Sewing Machines and established many friendships through this endeavor. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Emmett Martin, Kay Martin, Finas Martin, and Delbert Martin. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie McBride Martin of Flint, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Shirley Martin of Odessa, TX; son, Richard Martin of Fallon, NV and friend, Kathy Graves; Step-daughter, Susan Petersen of Monterey Peninsula, CA; Step-daughter Vivian Violet of Santa Maria, CA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandghildren; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. To carry on Tom's love for roses, a rose garden will be established in his honor. If desired, roses or memorials may be sent to 22420 Benedict Drive, Flint, TX 75762.

Changes in store for Gilroy police
