Pie Sale Benefits Grad Night
Gilroy – Enjoy delicious pies and help raise money for the 2008 Sober Grad Night event. Pies range in price from $13 to $14 (apple, pumpkin and olallieberry). Pies will be sold until Oct. 26.

Gage to Speak at Forum
Morgan Hill – Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Gage will speak at the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce Business Forum on Wednesday. His topic will be “County Issues Impacting South County Region: Now & in the Future.”
The forum and luncheon will be held from noon to 1:30pm at Mama Mia’s Ristorante Italiano, 275 E. Dunne Ave. The cost is $20 for chamber members and $25 for nonmembers. The public is more than welcome and encouraged to attend.
Santa Clara County has had and continues to possess a vast number of challenges.

Fall Concert Benefits Choirs
Gilroy – Gilroy High School Choral Program presents the Fall choir concert at 7:30pm today and Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, First and Monterey streets.
Doors open at 7pm, tickets are $3 and available at the door.
All proceeds go toward the choir’s transportation fund.

Learn Disability Awareness
Gilroy – The Gavilan College Disability Resource Center invites students, staff and community to learn more about people with disabilities and the resources available to people with disabilities. Events are as follows:
n Friday: The network of community agencies serving people with disabilities will meet at Gavilan College and tour the Disability Resource Center, 10am to noon in the Disability Resource Center
n Oct. 16 to 18: Display of “Did You Know” facts in the Gavilan College Student Center, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.
n Oct. 23 to 24: Movie Days, 9:30 to 11:30am and noon to 2pm in the Student Center (free and open to the public).
n Oct. 30: Interactive activity, 11am to 1pm in the Student Center.
Responsible Dog Owner Days
Gilroy – As a licensed club of the American Kennel Club, the Gavilan Kennel Club invites the public to celebrate Responsible Dog Ownership Day from 9am to 3pm Saturday, at Christmas Hill Park.
They will be offering a host of fun and educational activities for dogs and owners including a question-and-answer session with veterinarian, Dr. Pete Keesling, and more.

Wine and All That Jazz
Gilroy – The Gilroy Foundation presents the 18th annual “Day In The Country” wine and jazz festival, featuring outstanding wines and food, and silent and live auctions. The event takes place at 1pm, Saturday, at Goldsmith Seeds, 2280 Hecker Pass Highway. Order tickets online at gilroyfoundation.org. VIP business and family sponsorships are available. Community Health Day
Gilroy – Rebekah Children’s Services is hosting the 4th annual Gilroy Community Health Day, from 11am to 3pm Saturday, at Rebekah Children’s Services, 290 IOOF Ave. Health screenings, medical advice and more. Everything is free. A Mexican Consulate representative will be there to provide information regarding retirement in Mexico, real estate in Mexico, dual citizenship, custom regulations and much more. This is a non-alcohol and non-smoking event.
The Gilroy Community Health Day Committee is comprised of local organizations and agencies that have come together to develop and accomplish a vision of providing health, wellness and disease prevention within our community by increasing awareness and access to health care resources.

Body Specimen at Library
Gilroy – A real body specimen from the BODY WORLDS 2 & The Three Pound Gem: Gunther von Hagens’ Anatomical Exhibit of Real Human Bodies exhibition at The Tech Museum of Innovation will appear at the Gilroy Library Saturday, to accompany a talk about health and wellness.
The free presentation at 2pm will feature Paul Hepfer, MS, Vice President of Programs for The Health Trust, speaking on “Inside Out: Learning about your body can be the first step towards improved health and wellness.”
