Frances Marie Leon

Passed away last Wednesday at Mabie Skilled Nursing Center Southside at the age of 90 years. Frances was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and was a former resident of Morgan Hill before moving to Hollister six years ago. " Frances was a excellent homemaker who loved to cook and made great tamales" said her family. She enjoyed working with ceramics and making Christmas ornaments, and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Louis Leon of Hollister; daughters Cynthia Muscio (late Vernon) of Hollister; Diane Schneider (Herman) of Modesto, and son Ron Muscio (Barbara) of Brisbane. 9 Grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the last of the six siblings in her family.

Joseph D. Souza

Passed away suddenly at his residence at the age of 67 years. Joe was a native Gustine, CA, attended Salinas Schools, and has lived in San Benito County for the last 45 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart and St. Benedict Catholic Church Communities, the Cattlemen's Association, and a former member of the Hollister Elk's Lodge. Joseph was a Fabrication Supervisor for Wiebe Conveyance Systems and traveled the country installing can conveyers for major beverage companies. The last 13 years, Joe was the manager of Safety Storage in Hollister. "Joseph loved the Western Way---horses, ranches, brandings, and the friendships that they generated; his family was his world; taking his grandchildren fishing, watching them with their sports, and encouraging them in their schooling", said his family. He was an avid supporter of the 4-H and FFA programs for youth as well as a supporter and participant at the San Benito Co. Horse Show and the Fair. "Joe will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of people, and his loyalty to family and friends" , said those who knew him well. Joe is survived by his wife Gloria; son and daughter-in-law Eric &Laura Souza; his grandchildren Dominic, Savanna, and Alora; sisters and brothers-in-law Lorraine and Clint McCoy, Mary Anne and Bob Janecek, and Kathy and Bill Cady; many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Benedict Catholic Church 1400 Fairview Rd., Hollister. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Margarite Larios Lee

Margarite "Margie" Larios-Lee passed away in Salinas, CA. She was born in California and made her home in Hollister for the past 13 years. She is survived by her closest cousin Juanelle Guttirez of Hollister. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Georgetta Gomez and her husband Tony of Hayward, Michael Treba of San Francisco, Rob Treba and wife Rachel of San Francisco and Mary Leona Yasco of San Francisco and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ethel Marie Robba

Ethel Marie Robba, of Lodi, CA, age 90, went to her Heavenly home on March 26, 2008.

Julius Donald (Rocky) Rocca

Born in San Martin, California, "Rocky" passed into rest on March 24, 2008 at age 80. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Elenore. He is survived by his sons Michael (Renee), Daniel (Tammy), Thomas, and Paul; his grandchildren Aaron, Justin, Charmaine, and Julia; nephew Rob Cuffia; niece Loritta Johnson and her family, Kim, Kirke (Johanne), Lance, and Kirkey La Shelle, and Natazia Stolberg; cousin Elsa Audisio and her sons Joseph and Carlo; extended family Ilda Rossi and June Legge; and lifelong friends, the Pedrizzetti, Greig, Bonino, Lauesen, Faulconer, and Henrichsen families.

Albert (Al) Benjamin Roth

Beloved husband of Paula Roth of Hollister passed away at St. Louise Regional Hospital March 26th, 2008 at the age of 86 years. His funeral arrangements are pending and will appear in the newspaper when completed.

Consuelo I. Bernal

Born January 23, 1943 in Rio Hondo, Texas she grew up in Arizona and lived most of her adult life in Morgan Hill, CA. Connie was a house wife and later in life became a home care provider loving her job, but most importantly her family. Connie cherished her children and her sibling always the life of the party making people laugh when they were at their lowest and giving so much to those in need. The warmth will be missed, but not forgotten.

Billie Marie Roach

Billie will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful person, a loving wife, Mother of 2 sons, Randell and Bill Roach, Grandmother of 3, great-grandmother of 5, and a great-great-grandmother of 2. She passed away at home in Gilroy, CA on March 25, 2008.

George Andrew Taylor

George Andrew Taylor, aged 95, loving father and grandfather, passed away on March 25, 2008 in Gilroy, California. He is survived by his children, daughters Vonia Haselhofer (Loren) and Janet Anderson (Andy), son Solon Taylor (Barbara), 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Crystal, second wife Lee, son Dennis and daughter Minnie Ann.
