Letter: Broken-hearted mother pleads for help and justice for her son

Dear Editor, My name is Rosalie deVries. I have been a local resident since 1951. My son, Jeremy deVries, 31, has also been a long time resident. The purpose of my letter is not only an urgent appeal to generate critically needed funds to retain private counsel in a horrendous plight we are facing, but also, to bring to your attention, to a 21st century atrocity taking place within our judicial system at the Superior Court in Morgan Hill.

Fair market value for city’s stash of retired guns

Giving Gilroy Police Officers an option to purchase retired guns bought by the city is an idea that makes some sense. But, given the right to buy a retired weapon paid for by the public first is enough of a perk. The officers should pay market value for the weapons.
