HIGHLIGHTS: In the second half, the Green Sting spoiled the shut out on an Erin Magill strike on a feed from Kelsey Luoma – who stole the ball and dished to Magill.

HIGHLIGHTS: Henry Phan, Bernard Salgado, and Nicholas Xydes all picked up goals for Team America. Hector Salgado and Matt Hemeon made many of the key feeds, while Maarten Kerstens, Jonathan Grifall, and Christian Haro showed exceptional hustle. Fullbacks Alex Xydes, Nick Blackwell, and Alex Smithee helped goalies Brian Hentschke and Edgar Hernandez turn back all but one goal.

U12 GIRLS

HIGHLIGHTS: Jackie Vidal scored two goals, and Samantha Saenez and Jennifer Rose added one each to lead the Heat. Arianna Blean registered one assist. Amy Fortino,

Montina Filice and Nicole Hurchalla played strong defense along with goalie Deena

Morsilli.

U10 GIRLS

Sakata Seed America Sunflowers 6

MH Green Geckos 0

HIGHLIGHTS: In the first half, the Sunflowers kept the Green Geckos scoreless, while Francesca Comin and Alex Maldonado scored a goal each for a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, the Sunflowers overpowered the Green Gecko defense with four goals from Maldonado, Karalyn Podesta, Rahni Giardina and Monique Kersten. Goalies Allison Troini and Podesto played strong as did fullbakcs Lindsay Speno, Comin, Giardina and Nicole Kramer. There was solid midfield play from Nicole Gonzales, Allegra Blea and Kersten. Forwards Ashley McDermott and Brianna Alcantar also played well.

U10 BOYS

Waffelbakker’s Quicksilver 6

HIGHLIGHTS: A.J. Zekanoski had four goals and Aaron Valenta netted two goals for the victors. The team played solid defense to go along with their offensive outburst, yielding only one goal early in the game but then shutting down the competition the rest of the way.

U8 GIRLS

Blue Crush 3

MH Green Dragons 1

HIGHLIGHTS: Sarah Block scored the first Crush goal of the day. The Crush offense of Marilyn Florek, Cassey Steward, Zoe Fiorio, Marissa Garcia, and Kimberly Westbrook kept the ball in the Dragons’ defensive zone and helped Marina Cathers score another goal for the Crush. The Dragons scored a goal on a penalty, but the Crush came back and scored their third and final goal, by Arianna, to finish the game.

Tanglewood Construction Super Stingers 3

HIGHLIGHTS: For the Stingers, Alexis Moen netted her first goal of the season in the first half. After the Gamers tied the score at one, Katie Wheat aggressively split the defense and scored the game-winning goal. Kiara Santamaria put the game away with her second goal of the season.

U8 BOYS

Mission Valley Ford Thrashers 5

Flames 7

HIGHLIGHTS: Goalie Sterling Montgomery of the Thrashers made some great saves in the first half but it wasn’t enough to stop the Flames from getting four hard-earned goals. The Thrashers put up a good fight during the first half with Miller Menzie assisting on the first goal to Jason Struzik. Menzie scored the next goal with an assist from Kevin Jones. The Flames goalie, Ian Benjamin, allowed the Thrashers to score one more goal by Ben Troini before the half. Despite the good offense from Brad Speno and Chris Almanza, the Flames came back to score three more times in the second half. The Thrashers’ two second-half goals came from Kevin Jones and Troini.

Blue Rockets 7

HIGHLIGHTS: Nelson Pyle’s hat trick combined with David Robinson’s pair as well as goals from Brandon Cressi and Matt Gamez paced the Blue Rockets. Cole Charron, Corbin Costello, Justin Phillips, and Ty Miller all played strong games.
