The fire is reported to have started at 2:20 p.m. near Highway 152 and Dinosaur Point Road.

As of 4:45 p.m., the fire was completely uncontained, according to Calfire, representatives of which could not be reached immediately.

A large plume of smoke was visible from San Juan Bautista and Hollister by 3:30 p.m.
