Peter ‘Pete’ V. Giordano died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004. He was 87.
Born on Nov. 28, 1916, in South San Francisco to the late Carmelo and Mary Giordano, his family moved to their San Martin farm when he was 4 years old.
He was educated in local schools and graduated from Live Oak High School in 1937. Mr. Giordano got a break from his lifelong career of farming when he served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. In 1947, he met and married the lady who put the sparkle in his eye, Patricia (Pat) Ardizzone of San Jose. They were married for 57 very happy years.
Mr. Giordano’s longtime commitment to serving his community began early. He was a past president and longtime board member of the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau, Loma Prieta Resource Conservation District and Pacific Coast Federal Land Bank. He also was a board member of the California Farm Bureau Federation, Santa Clara County Fair Association, the California Prune Bargaining Association and past chair and longtime member of the Santa Clara Valley Water District Agricultural Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Gilroy SIRS and an usher at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Morgan Hill; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and many cousins and very close friends.
His brothers Vince, Sam and Joe Giordano, and sister Virginia Giordano Marfia, preceded him in death.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Morgan Hill on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at 10am. Services will continue to Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
