Gilroy Police report on standoff Tuesday night.
On the evening on May 30, 2017, GPD officers were investigative a domestic violence case. Nain Ulloa (28) was the suspect. When Officers went to Mr. Ulloa’s residence in the 600 block of E. Seventh Street to contact him, he refused to come out. Officers negotiated with Mr. Ulloa for about an hour with no success. During this time, Mr. Ulloa held up a knife and made suicidal threats. He told police that he was not coming out and we (police) would have to remove his dead body from the residence.
As the event evolved, officers realize there were additional people inside the home to include two small children. Mr. Ulloa secured the doors and windows in an attempt to fortify the home. Given the situation, the Gilroy/Morgan Hill Regional SWAT Team and the Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene.
After approximately two hours, the SWAT team was able to safely get the female and children out of the apartment. Mr. Ulloa refused to negotiate or comply with commands. SWAT officers entered the apartment and located Mr. Ulloa hiding in the attic. He was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of a Gilroy Police Department K-9.
Mr. Ulloa was medically treated then booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for several charges.
