Petty theft
Three people entered Nob Hill on First Street and attempted to
leave the store without paying for three panini sandwiches, valued
at $4.99 each, 7:48 p.m. Dec. 29. Someone stopped the people
outside the store and recovered two of the sandwiches but later
learned a third was taken.
Narcotics
Someone was cited for possession of hypodermic needles at Eigleberry and West Seventh Streets, 9:49 p.m. Dec. 27.
Auto burglary
Someone broke into a locked vehicle parked on the 1700 block of Hecker Pass Highway and took a purse with its contents, between 9:35 and 9:43 a.m. Dec. 28.
A woman left her vehicle parked and locked on First Street for five minutes. When she came back, she found the right front passenger window smashed out and her backpack missing from the front seat, between 7:05 and 7:10 a.m. Friday.
Someone broke the front passenger side window of a 2003 Pontiac on First Street and took a bottle of cologne, between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 29 and 12:08 a.m. Dec. 30.
Someone entered a locked storage yard and entered several vehicles and took merchandise on Yamane Drive, between 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 30 and 7:45 a.m. Dec. 31. A tractor had a smashed passenger window and a black Ford Escort had a smashed driver’s side window. A trailer had two windows smashed and a truck had stereo damage.
Non-injury accident
There was a non-injury traffic collision at Chestnut and 10th streets, 2:22 p.m. Dec. 28. One driver was cited for having no proof of insurance.
A vehicle stuck a City of Gilroy light pole and fence on the 7700 block of Camino Arroyo, 10:06 p.m. Dec. 28. The driver fled the scene and the vehicle was towed.
Found property
A plastic bag containing marijuana and a glass smoking pipe were found during a vehicle stop in a blue 1995 Nissan, 12:09 a.m. Dec. 29.
Someone found a backpack that did not belong to her in her vehicle on Hanna Street, 3:10 p.m. Dec. 31.
Threat
Threats were made to someone on Las Animas Court, 10:46 a.m. Nov. 25.
Grand theft
Someone’s laptop was taken on Larkspur Lane between 4 p.m. Dec. 24 and 8 p.m. Dec. 27. It could have been taken during a large party at the person’s home. It is a Dell laptop computer worth $1,000.
Someone took a snowboard, two pairs of snowboard boots, some luggage and a silver colored flute from an unlocked 2001 Honda parked on Murray Avenue, 9:43 a.m. Friday.
Some jewelry was taken from someone’s home on Pierce Street between 8 a.m. Nov. 27 and 8 a.m. Dec. 8, during a hospital stay.
Someone entered an unlocked 2008 Honda parked on Monterey Street and stole a laptop, a purse, some checks and credit cards, totaling $685, between 2 and 3:20 p.m. Dec. 31.
A woman was shopping at Kohl’s department store on Camino Arroyo when her purse was stolen, Dec. 29. She requested a report for insurance purposes only. The stolen items totaled $1,190 and included a purse, credit cards, a cell phone, a coin purse, diamond earrings and other personal belongings.
Suspicious
A man came into the Pink Elephant Bakery on East Tenth Street dressed all in black with a hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and gloves, between 4 and 4:27 p.m. Dec. 29. Two other people stood outside the bakery dressed in black watching the parking lot. The man who came in the bakery said he was sent by corporate to pick up the report, meaning he was there to pick up the earnings from the day. The worker questioned the man, who then fled in a dark colored vehicle.
Missing juvenile
A girl ran from her mother’s car in the area of First Street and Wren Avenue after her mother took her cell phone from her, 10:45 p.m. Dec. 28.
Two sisters ran away from Doris Court, 10:07 a.m. Dec. 30.
Petty theft

Someone had his bike stolen from his residence on the 1200 block of Juniper Drive, 10 p.m. Dec. 31. The bike is described as a black mountain bike with several miscellaneous music band stickers affixed to the bike frame.
A bike was stolen from Forest Street, 3:08 p.m. Dec. 30.
Animal
Someone was bitten by a dog on Santa Teresa Boulevard, 2:39 p.m. Dec. 30.
Found property
Someone turned in a .22 caliber rifle to the Gilroy Police Department, 7301 Hanna St., for destruction, 6:36 p.m. Dec. 30.
Weapons
Two men brandished a handgun at someone on Leavesley Road, 7:55 p.m. Dec. 30.
Lost property
Someone lost her Mexican Consular ID on Alexander Street, 10 a.m. April 1.
Assault
Four people went to a residence on Swanston Lane and accused someone of fighting with one of the four. The person at the house was then hit in the face with a closed fist, 12:53 a.m. Thursday.
A husband and a wife argued on Monterey Street over the husband’s inability to control his alcohol consumption. During the argument, the husband held down his wife and strangled her, causing multiple lacerations. The man left before police arrived and the woman did not need medical attention, 1:50 a.m. Thursday.
