GILROY—A 91-year-old woman who went missing from her home in south-central Gilroy Wednesday led to the issuance of a citywide alert just before 3:25 p.m, but within minutes she was found not too far from her own residence, according to Gilroy police.
Marilyn Walters, who authorities said suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, was found “in a ravine behind her home” in the area of Rosanna Street and London Drive shortly after the alert was issued, Gilroy Police Department Sgt. Royce Heath said.
An officer found her collapsed in a nearby, gated creek bed suffering from moderate injuries, police said. Walters was then treated by first responders and  transported to the hospital for treatment.
Prior to her discovery, the automated telephone message sent out Wednesday  urged residents too keep an eye out for Walters, described as 5-feet-tall, weighing 125-pounds and with shoulder-length gray hair. Police also said she may not know her name or address.
