GILROY – When a female cashier entered her gas station’s rest room Thursday, a man hiding behind the door grabbed her arm and told her in Spanish he was going to rape her, according to city police.
The woman broke free and ran, police said, and the man escaped by fleeing to a car and driving away. The incident took place about noon.
Police have not caught the would-be rapist. The woman described him as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a light complexion and brown hair.
He was reportedly wearing a white T-shirt and a black hat, and he drove off in a burgundy Dodge sedan.
Police declined to name the gas station or give its location because doing so would identify the woman.
