Patrolmen called in a coroner to the scene of an accident, which occurred near the southbound off-ramp at 11:57 a.m. today, according to the CHP. Patrolmen closed off the area at 12:40 p.m. while investigating the accident. While the off-ramp was originally expected to reopen at 2:40 p.m., CHP said at 3:30 p.m. that the off-ramp would not reopen until at least 5 p.m. Traffic on southbound U.S. 101 was backed up to south Morgan Hill and there was slowing all the way to Coyote Creek Golf Club, according to Google’s real-time traffic map.
The homicide division of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office was also at the scene, according to a source. The coroner, which left after his or her original visit about 12 p.m., was called back to the scene about 3:10 p.m.
Multiple calls to CHP were not returned and . The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said they had not received any body associated with this case.
