Mustangs blast past Cowboys
Salinas drew first blood against the Mustangs Thursday, but Gilroy made the Cowboys pay.
The Mustangs piled on six runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 10-4 win over the Cowboys at home.
Hale was a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate for Gilroy and scored two runs. Hsu accounted for three RBIs on a hit and also scored a run for his team.
Gilroy added three more runs in the bottom of the third and another in the fourth to take a 10-1 lead. The Cowboys scored three runs in the top of the sixth for the final.
Alex Benavides got the win on the bump, allowing four runs—three earned—on five hits over seven innings. He struck out five and walked three.
Gilroy (6-15 overall, 3-9 in league) will take on San Benito at 7 p.m. today at Veteran’s Park.
Cougars blank Monterey

The Bartholics allowed only four hits between them and the Cougar offense did the rest as Christopher beat Monterey 2-0 at the Sollecito Baseball Diamond.
Andreu was awarded the win and gave up just three hits over four innings. He also struck out one and walked one. Anthonee got the save with one hit in three innings of work. He struck out two and walked one.
