Gilroy Mustangs
The Gilroy girls basketball team has held their last two opponents to just 36 points while scoring 105 of its own.
 
The Mustangs rolled to a 45-16 win at Pajaro Valley Thursday, improving to 10-7 overall, 7-1 in league.

Gilroy will take on Alisal at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home for its third to last game of the regular season.
GIRLS SOCCER
 
Cougars and Balers tie
 
The Christopher girls soccer team was looking to avenge its earlier loss to San Benito, but had to settle for its first tie of the season.
 
The Cougars finished the game with a 2-2 decision against the Balers in Hollister Wednesday. 
 
Christopher led 2-1, but San Benito was able to score in stoppage time to tie it up. 
 
Jamie Boutee scored her ninth goal of the season in the first half off an assist from Cata Martin. Vanessa Koontz set a shot into the back off the net on a break away in the second half for her 14th. Both had shots that hit the post in the second half. 
 
Paulina Sanchez was stellar in net for the Cougars.
 
Christopher will be back on the field at 3:30 p.m. today to host Alisal.
 
BOYS SOCCER
 
Gilroy edges NMC
 
The Mustangs grabbed the lead early and never let go.
 
The Gilroy boys soccer team topped the Condors of North Monterey County 2-1 in Castroville Thursday.
 
Gilroy jumped out to a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from David Solorzano and Andres Jimenez. Solorzano struck first off an assist from Miguel Guiterrez. Jimenez netted his 25th of the year off a Gaspar Figueroa assist.
 
NMC scored in the second half, but that was all the hosts were able to muster up.
 
Gilroy (11-2-2, 5-2-1) will play at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Salinas. The Mustangs will have just three regular season games left following that contest.
 
Christopher ties with N. Salinas
 
Defense was king in Thursday’s league matchup between Christopher and North Salinas.
 
Neither team was able to score, resulting in a 0-0 tie in Salinas. It’s the Cougars sixth tie game this season.
 
Christopher (3-7-6, 2-2-5) will be back in action at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for their third to final game of the season — second to last at home.
