The Christopher girls basketball team held Salinas to single-digit scores for three out of four periods.
Defensive was king for the Cougars who went on to win 43-38 over the visiting Salinas Thursday.
Salinas only reached double-digits in the second quarter when it posted 16 points, which tied the game at 25-25 at the half.Â
Christopher went on to outscore Salinas 18-11 after the break.
Dejah Raoof led the Cougars with 13 points. Cydney Caradonna posted 11. Ally Foster added seven points, while Christa Arroyo scored six.
Christopher (8-8 overall, 3-2 in league) will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Seaside.
Pollard leads Mustangs past Alvarez
Nia Pollard racked up 19 points for the Gilroy girls basketball team Thursday — but she wasn’t the only one in double digits.Â
Holly Lam added 13 points for the Mustangs as they cruised past Everett Alvarez 62-47 on the road.
The win puts Gilroy at .500 on the season at 7-7 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Gilroy will be back in action at 7 p.m. Tuesday, playing host to North Monterey County.Â
BOYS BASKETBALL
Mustangs top N.Salinas
Travis Moulden and Josiah Wiley proved to be double trouble for North Salinas.
The duo each scored 15 points in the Mustangs 62-51 win on the road Friday.
Four Mustangs — including Moulden and Wiley — scored in double-digits. Zach Loo added 11 points, while Elijah Floyd scored 10.Â
Gilroy (7-10, 3-2) will be back on the court at 7 p.m. Wednesday to host North Monterey County.Â
CHS falls to Salinas, Monterey
The Christopher boys basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, a 70-41 loss at Salinas Friday.
Salinas jumped out to 20-point lead at the half, 36-16, that the Cougars weren’t able to recover from.Â
Evan Shapiro scored three 3-pointers to lead the Christopher with 15 points.Â
Christopher also hosted Monterey Wednesday. Shane Suttles led the team with 21 points, while Alex Pacheco added 13. Unfortunately for the hosts, they lost 66-59 in OT.
Christopher trailed 38-25 at the half, but rebounded after the break to score 31 points. The home team, however, was held to three points in OT.
