Cougars tie for fourth
Tyson Hill carded a 41, helping the Christopher boys golf team tie for fourth out of six teams at Corral de Tierre in Salinas Monday.
The Cougars combined for a team score of 233 to tie with Monte Vista Christian. Palma took first (186) followed by San Benito (203) and Salinas (222). Everett Alvarez finished sixth with a 276.
Hill was Christopher’s low scorer, followed by Jeff Driggs with a 44. Jaeshaen Hoenick scored a 46, while RJ Montez carded a 47. Kole Culbertson netted a 55 and Steven Lerma a 57.
The Cougars play at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at San Benito.
Gilroy take fourth in MBL Pacific Opener
The Gilroy boys golf team opened its season with a 4th place finish at Salinas Golf and Country Club Monday.
Third year golfer Nick Triolo posted a 51 for the Mustangs en route to a 305 team score. Freshman Avery Trevino carded a 57, ushering in a new generation of talent coach Sam Sauer said.
The match was the opener for the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division and was hosted by North Salinas. Monterey took first with a 237, followed by North Monterey County with 275. North Salinas scored 279 for third while Alisal finished fifth with 312. Watsonville also competed, but was disqualified.
Gilroy will host the next MBL Paciific match at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Ridge Golf Course.
