You can just call them the comeback kids.
The Christopher girls water polo team scored eight second half goals, erasing a 2-7 first half deficit, to top Stevenson 10-8 on the road Tuesday.
Malaya Santos recorded four goals for the Cougars, while Hannah Marquez had three. Natalie Garcia added two goals and Sabrina Seery rounded out scoring with one.
After allowing seven goals in the first half, the Christopher defense held their opponents to just one in the second.
The JV squad also beat its Stevenson counterpart 16-0.
The Cougars (5-8 overall, 2-3 in league) will be back in the water at 4 p.m. Sept. 30 to host Alvarez.
FIELD HOCKEY
Mank leads Cougars past Stevenson
The Christopher field hockey team picked up it’s second straight win by putting up a crooked number on its opponent. 
Erin Mank led the Cougars with four goals in the team’s 7-1 win at Stevenson Tuesday—their sixth straight road game. 
Christopher has scored 17 goals through its last two games. 
Nikki Villanueva, Melanie Tanaka and Jordan Evanger each contributed with a goal in the game. 
Christopher’s (3-2-1 overall, 2-0-1 in league) long road trip continues with at 3:30 p.m. contest Thursday at Carmel. It will have two more road games before its home opener at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 14 when it hosts York. 
VOLLEYBALL
Christopher edges Alvarez to open league play
Olivia Tabron put down 22 kills against Everett Alvarez to help Christopher to a 3-2 win Tuesday to open Monterey Bay League play at home.
Tabron added 12 digs, two blocks and two aces during the Cougars hard fought 25-23, 13-25, 25-13, 21-25, 15-11 win over the Eagles. 
Christa Arroyo was stellar serving up seven aces as well as 48 assists, 14 digs and three kills. Ally Foster also put up double-digit kills with 14 in addition to five blocks and five digs. 
The Cougars (10-3 overall, 1-0 in league) will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. today at Salinas. 
Gilroy falls to North Salinas
The Gilroy girls volleyball team opened league play with a 0-3 loss at North Salinas Tuesday. 
The Mustangs lost in straight sets 11-25, 23-25, 9-25. 
Gilroy came back from a six point deficit, 17-23, in Set 2 to tie up the score. Sarhay Luna and Desiree Cundiff were stellar on defense in that set, not allowing a block to fall on the offense.
The JV team also lost in straight sets 5-25, 4-25.
Gilroy (1-4) will be back on the court at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
