SALINAS—Gilroy is jam packed with boys soccer talent and it has the postseason honors to prove it.
Twelve local athletes were named to the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan and Pacific postseason lists, including five who were named First Team.
Mustang seniors Fernando Lares, a forward, and Sean Kaufman, a defender, were named to Gabilan’s First Team All-League list. Christopher’s Chris Drury, Alan Hermosillo and Johnnie Rojas—a defender, forward and midfielder, respectively—were all named to the Pacific Division’s First Team.
Gilroy senior Efren Pineda and teammate Nestor Cano received Second Team All-League honors in the Gabilan Division. David Solorzano, a senior midfielder for Gilroy, was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
Cougar goalie Carlos Arroyo was named to the Pacific’s Second Team, as were teammates Antony Ambriz and Brian Cuevas. Isaiah Rugerio, a sophomore midfielder for CHS, rounded out the selections as part of the Sportsmanship Team.
Christopher finished 6-7-4 overall and 5-3-4 in league play. Gilroy went 7-11-1 on the season, 4-8-1 in Gabilan League play.
