GILROY—The season may be over for the Mustangs, but they continue to bring in the hardware.
Ten Gilroy wrestlers earned Monterey Bay League First Team All-League honors—including its three standout freshmen.
Alex Felix, the 132-pound wrestler who took third at the California Interscholastic Federation state tournament, joined freshmen classmates Nicholas Aguilar, 106, and Joseph Delgado, 113, in earning postseason awards.
Twins Mark and Matt Penyacsek, who wrestle at 170 and 195 pounds, respectively, also made the list. Matt finished five at the CIF meet for Gilroy and both won Central Coast Section titles this season.
CCS champs Jesse Vasquez (126) and Noe Garcia (220) as well as Gavin Melendez (120), Victor Daza (138) and Tony Andrade (182) also received First Team All-League honors.
Gilroy won its 13th consecutive Central Coast Section title this season and had 10 wrestlers medal at the meet.
