Christopher already trailed 3-0 heading into the final half inning at Leigh Saturday—but the hosts weren’t done.
The Cougars fell 11-0 on the road, snapping a five-game winning streak. Christopher had just two hits in the game (Makaio Duyao and Tyler Fhurong) to Leigh’s 13 in the non-league contest.
Leigh scored two runs in the bottom of the second and another in both the fourth and fifth innings before scoring seven in the seventh.
Christopher will look to rebound at 4 p.m. Tuesday as it returns to league play against Salinas at Hartnell Junior College.
Mustangs fall to Monterey, Mitty
Two runs was all the Gilroy baseball team was able to muster up through two games Friday and Saturday.
The Mustangs fell 8-1 at Monterey Friday, before losing 14-1 to Archbishop Mitty Saturday in San Jose. 
The Monarchs scattered nine runs over the first two innings before Gilroy finally answered with a run in the bottom of the third. Mitty got it right back, adding another run in the top of the fourth and four more in the top of the fifth for the final. 
Stats from this game is not yet available. Stats and scoring from the Gilroy-Monterey game is also unavailable. 
The Mustangs (6-12 overall, 4-10 in league) will look to rebound with a 4 p.m. contest against Monte Vista Christian Tuesday at home.
SOFTBALL
Christopher falls to Valley Christian in extras
Valley Christian scored a run in back-to-back-to-back-to-back innings to edge Christopher Thursday in Gilroy.
The Cougars fell 4-3 in eight innings in the non-league contest to snap a three-game winning streak.
Christopher scored three runs in the bottom of the third to lead 3-0 until Valley Christian answered with a run in the top of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to tie the game. The Warriors pushed another across in the top of the eighth and the Cougars were unable to answer. Valley Christian out hit Christopher 8-3.
Mackenzie Holt was handed the loss, allowing four runs—three earned—on eight hits through eight innings. She walked two and struck out four. 
Brook Loesch went 1 for 3 with two RBIs, a run and a double for the Cougars. 
Christopher (15-7 overall, 4-4 in league) will return to league play with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Seaside Tuesday. It will host Gilroy for a crosstown showdown at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. 
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
CHS drops season finale to Balers
The Christopher boys volleyball team will have to settle for second place in the Monterey Bay League following a 3-2 loss to San Benito Thursday.
The Cougars easily won Set 1, 25-14, before losing the second 25-10 and the third 25-13. Christopher rebounded with a 27-25 win in the fourth set, but lost the tiebreaker 15-12. 
Christopher now awaits its seeding for the Central Coast Section playoffs which will be announced this weekend. First round games will be played April 13. Check back with the Gilroy Dispatch for playoff information as it becomes available.
Mustangs end season winless
The Gilroy Mustangs’ long season came to an end Thursday with a 3-0 loss to Palma. 
The young Mustangs squad struggled throughout the season and were unable to record a win this year and finish 0-13 on the year. 
Gilroy was swept in all but one game this year. The Mustangs were able to win a set against Pajaro Valley on April 8.
BOYS TENNIS
Cougars send six to MBL Tournament
Just as they have all season, the Cougars battled until the end.
The Christopher boys tennis team sent six players to the MBL Tournament April 29 at Salinas High and they all put up a fight.
No.1 singles player Dominic Nguyen easily handled his first round opponent before facing the No. 1 from Monte Vista Christian, Jason Lee. That match was the end of the line for Nguyen, who lost in two sets.
The No. 1 doubles team of Geoffrey He and Destin Cockcroft had a first round bye before taking on Pacific Grove in the second round. They lost the first set 6-7, but forced a tie breaker by winning the second set 7-5. The Cougars hung tough to win the third set 15-13. He and Cockcroft met the No. 2 seeded team in the third round and lost 6-4, 6-2 to end their season.
The No. 2 singles player, Tom Madruga, had a close match but lost in two sets. It was the same story for the No.2 doubles team of Jesus Velasquez and Isaiah Romero.
