Intersection troubles

Going north on Church Street and turning left onto First Street,
there’s a problem with the left-hand signal light. That is, that it
only permits one car to turn left, the signal only lasts about four
seconds, unless cars are willing to wait in the ‘keep clear’ zone
in front of the ambulance service.
Intersection troubles

“Going north on Church Street and turning left onto First Street, there’s a problem with the left-hand signal light. That is, that it only permits one car to turn left, the signal only lasts about four seconds, unless cars are willing to wait in the ‘keep clear’ zone in front of the ambulance service. If you honor the keep clear it only allows about one driver around that corner. But if you slide into the keep clear, it allows about five. That should be corrected. Thank you.”

Red Phone:

It first contacted Gilroy’s Traffic Engineer Don Dey. He said that First and Church is a Caltrans maintained traffic signal. He added that he recently had them check this intersection and their investigation turned up nothing out of the ordinary and that everything was working correctly. Dey said he would once again request Caltrans check out the location. Red Phone also called and left a message with Caltrans alerting them to your concern.

Wants to help

“I am so happy that the Dispatch brought this sad situation to light. How could the city not know about the disgusting living conditions at the Velladao Mobile Home Park? These are people, not even animals should live like that. … Gilroy has done things for Katrina victims, why not help the victims of our own community? What I don’t get is that the Ochoa camp down the road is open, there is South County Housing, a motel down the road and community solutions – I have not heard anyone say we need to help these people. I’m a single mother of three and I want to help. I want to know who is going to pay for the doctor bills, hospital stays those kids will have? How does Gilroy, a town that seems to grow a mile a minute, end up having a Third World country in our backyard? I want to know what kind of damage has happened underground? … My heart goes out to these people and I will try all I can to help in what little way I can. Maybe Velladao and the management company should go stay for a few days at the park. Think they will? Yeah right. Thanks Dispatch. Two thumbs up!”

Red Phone:

The staff appreciates the kudos. The Dispatch is staying on top of the sewage situation at the mobile home park. In case you skimmed over it, take a look at the latest on page A1.

Kirby question

“Hello! I’m calling about those who go around selling Kirby vacuums. They come to our neighborhood about two or three times a month. It’s these young kids who seem like they’re whacked out and what I want to do is find out what company they work for so I can talk to the company. The police said I could call them and let them know, but they’d be gone by then. They’re really bugging the heck out of me because they keep coming by. I wonder what suggestions are. … I think they’re selling Kirby vacuums with flyers, these young kids. It’s getting really frustrating and any suggestions would help. I’d like to find what company the work for. Bye.”

Red Phone:

It wishes it could help more, but good caller, it’s not sure where to begin. It did some research on Kirby and was unsuccessful in finding a parent company. It hopes that readers might be able to shed some light on your situation.

Red Phone thinks maybe next time you see the salespeople, perhaps grab a flyer. It just might have some information you could use. And also, it suggests following through with police. Even if the kids are gone, if you can get a description, officers might be able to find them down the road and check them out to see if they’re legitimate. Any readers have suggestions?

A brother’s wisdom

“Well, I made it home again from the doctor’s office real safe. It was a good day. I only saw three people run stop signs. That reminded me when my older brother was teaching me to drive, he said, ‘Sis, S-T-O-P spells stop, not Step Toe On Pedal.’ Thank you.”

Red Phone:

Thanks for the comment. Stay safe out there.
